What to do when the cleaner is away

The fantastic woman who cleans our house is on holiday. This may not seem like a big deal, but she is on holiday for a MONTH. We're about 1.5 weeks into this and the wait is on to see who cleans the house first, me or Troy. It's driving both of us slightly crazy, since we had no idea the cats shed, the sink gets dirty by itself, or that the shower retains soap scum. It's hard to begrudge her vacation, though, because it's been about 18 months since we moved here and started using her, and I don't think she's ever missed a week for holiday, sickness or laziness. What's a non-offensive way to ask if she cooks also? Come back soon!
The last few weeks have gone by quickly - I headed to Boston for a fast weekend trip to see my family. My brother and sister managed to get home also (from DC and San Francisco), so we had a proper mini family reunion. It was particularly nice since there wasn't a holiday in the midst of it, with the associated must-do activities. So our most stressful must-do activities involved making it on time to the Friday evening Red Sox game at Fenway Park (vs. Kansas City), and finding a place to eat ahead of time. (I voted for Fenway Franks, but was vetoed.)
Troy and I had decided a while ago to join up with the local Football Club near us, the Brentford Bees. We bought season tickets and are excited to start attending when the season starts in August. It sounds like the Seattle professional football (soccer) team - the Seattle Sounders - practiced Thursday at one of the Microsoft sports fields on the Microsoft campus. XBox sponsors the Seattle Sounders, so there was that tie-in, and Thursday was also Microsoft's "take your kid to work day" so I'm sure a lot of kids were thrilled to see the team playing up close. There's a fun YouTube video of Seattle Sounders Play at Microsoft (skip the first 30 seconds).
It's difficult to find fun new content on the web, without spending lots of time going through stuff that's just crap. YouTube absolutely must have some great stuff, but it definitely has horrible stuff also. I recently got turned onto PopTub, which is a daily YouTube snapshot of the funniest new videos. Perfect!
Okay, we're off to head to an engagement party for a friend who is, well, getting married soon. Got to go charge up TomTom to make sure we get there. Wait, what's that sound? Wow, I think it's the sound of a vacuum cleaner!
