Can you really Let Yourself Go when on holiday?

I'm going to start an analysis of how to "Let Yourself Go" when you go on holiday. At least for me, it's really hard to take a week's vacation and really relax and just let myself go completely. This, I believe, is why I can't even go back to 3 weeks of holiday!
Why am I wondering about this now? I'm not really sure. I think it's because I recently heard an ad on the tv for Expedia's "Let Yourself Go" refrain. It's catchy, I'll give it that! "Expedia.. let yourself go" (fade out slowly with me if you're singing along)
So it got me thinking how long does a vacation actually have to be in order to fully and completely let yourself go? When we took the safari in africa, we were out for about 3 weeks and I was pretty relaxed :) Note to self: always take at least three weeks holiday in order to relax.
What about others? How long does a vacation need to be (and does its location matter?) before you can let yourself go?
