What a fantastic weekend! The weather was beautiful, Troy and I were both in town, we got a bunch of house stuff wrapped up, and we saw a bunch of friends. And to top it all off, I won the Euro Millions drawing on Friday. Just kidding. But that would have really been cool. Unless you watch LOST, in which case you may question whether you actually want to win the lottery at all.

Friday nights are turning less into the party night they used to be, and more into the rejuvenate-my-body's-sleep-night. Is it bad to go to bed at 10pm on a Friday night? It sure felt good.

Saturday morning we woke up, had breakfast, made a latte, and headed into Chiswick (Turnham Green, technically). We've been looking for a few furniture things to complete the house and were lucky enough last weekend to find a nice sitting chair (brown leather, quite comfy). This weekend we had wanted to find a coffee table, a scatter rug, and something for the front room that would give us some storage space but also not block the window. Success on all counts!

At Chest of Drawers, we found three small end tables that are perfect for a coffee table - you can put them next to each other and have a functional coffee table, or pull them apart to provide all sorts of exciting combinations in the room. Time to play Twister? No problem, move them apart to form drink tables at the each end of the Twister board. (For the record - I do not have Twister and can't remember the last time I played. Although I am quite good at being flexible.)

At The Old Cinema (it's a retro furniture place that is, well, in an old cinema), we found a great long cabinet with tons of storage space, a nice solid wood top, and just the right height to keep plenty of window light streaming into the room. It's also a purrfect cabinet to put the cats in when they're being annoying. They also had same-day delivery, so we were able to get this delivered within an hour, and the coffee table was small enough we could just carry it on the tube home.

Later in the afternoon, we found a small scatter rug nearby in Ealing, and then went home to relax a bit before a delicious dinner in Ealing at The Walpole with a couple of friends. Once again, the restaurant was amazing. I started with a Raspberry Martini - which is a martini with a scoop of raspberry sorbet, that slowly melts into the drink to form an amazing drink. How fun is it that I could start with really a dessert and feel good about it? I had a goat's cheese souffle as a starter, a perfectly-cooked soft and tender lamb dish for my main, and split the sticky-toffee pudding, complete with a scoop of sea-salt ice cream to complement its taste. Wow.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the sunny weather with a stroll around Ealing, stopping at Ealing Abbey for church, and then a delicious breakfast at Cafe Freddo in Ealing. They continue to have the best coffee in the area. Sunday afternoon gave us a chance to relax a bit more, then friends came over in the evening and we made dinner with a homemade italian sauce, tomato-and-cheese pasta, and sliced sauteed chicked on top. Plus some wine. Delicious, life-enhancing red wine. Mmmmm.

We took a few pictures of our place with the new furniture. We posted the pictures on Photosynth, which is an interesting site than "stiches" together different pictures to allow users to "fly" around and view content from multiple directions. Enjoy.
